What's New 2002

The June 2003 Tour has been scheduled for June 11-22, 2003 and the Program is now available. Terms and Conditions will be available from the Society Office. We encourage early deposits.

We have sent our eleventh Electronic Newsletter on August 24, 2002. The special significance of this Newsletter is that it announces a number of exceptional presentations concerning the Magna Charta and its contemporary, as well as historical, significance. Lord Goldsmith, Attorney General of the UK, addresses issues concerning individual liberty since September 11 and Donald Murphy, Deputy Director of the National Park Service, presents the rights within Magna Charta as an evolution of the human mind. His perspective is particularly significant as the National Park Service may be considered the largest educational organization in the United States, sharing with all Americans and visitors to this country the soul of this nation. We are grateful that three exceptionally distinguished Judges offered their perspective on Magna Charta: Judge Edward Becker, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, Judge Albert Rosenblatt, New York Court of Appeals, and Judge Louis H. Pollak, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

We have sent our tenth Electronic Newsletter on June 23, 2002. It includes information about the July 3, 2002 Opening and Luncheon for the Magna Carta Exhibit in Philadelphia. The Rt Hon the Lord Goldsmith, Her Majesty’s Attorney General, will open the Exhibit and will present an address on the "Common Roots of the Common Law" at a noon luncheon. Our Society is handling reservations for the opening and luncheon. This Exhibit of an original Magna Carta, dated 1297, is the result of the unified effort of members of the Judiciary, Bar and Government as well as interested individuals and corporations. The success of the Exhibit reflects the commitment to the rule of law established and enhanced by the Magna Carta. We are pleased that this Exhibit is during the Golden Jubilee Year of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, II. Our Society is honored to participate and to offer this event to our members and guests as a Golden Jubilee activity

We have sent our ninth Electronic Newsletter on February 28, 2002. It includes information about our Reception and Dinner on April 13, 2002, the May 2002 Tour and the recently planned June 2002 Tour.

The June 2002 Golden Jubilee Weekend Educational Tour has been scheduled for May 30, 2002 to June 5, 2002 and the Program is now available. Terms and conditions are available from the Society Office.

We have scheduled our April 2002 Dinner for Saturday evening, April 13, 2002.

We hope you will enjoy this site.
